Background
GRET has been active in Laos since 2004, and has been working on water access, sanitation, and solid waste sectors for more than 20 years. It also implements projects related to sustainable management of natural resources (bamboo), land governance, and ago-ecology.
GRET is providing consultancy support to the UEIIP Project for the management of scholarship activities under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT).
The scholarship program targets 150 scholars, including 120 from MPWT and 30 from DCT. In the 2026–2027 academic year, the project recruited 110 women officials, of whom 108 were shortlisted, including 77 applicants proposed for ADB approval.
GRET is recruiting an intern to support the Project Manager in managing candidate information, reviewing applications, coordinating with universities and candidates, and organizing scholarship documentation.
Role Purpose
GRET is seeking for a motivated intern to support the closely the Project Manager in the administration and coordination with scholar for the UEIIP scholarship program. The internship will be based in Luang Prabang, for 4 months maximum of duration (from First Sept to 20 December 2026).
He/she will work under the direct supervision of GRET project manager in Luang Prabang. He/She will conduct:
- Collecting and updating information on scholarship candidates;
- Reviewing and organizing scholarship applications and supporting documents;
- Coordinating with universities regarding tuition fees, study information, and other expenses;
- Communicating with candidates regarding their studies and required information;
- Preparing summaries and tracking the status of applications.
Main responsibilities:
The intern will:
- Collect, check, and update candidate information and documents;
- Review scholarship applications and identify missing or incomplete documents;
- Prepare and update candidate tracking tables and databases;
- Coordinate with universities on tuition fees, study programs, enrollment, and other relevant information;
- Follow up with candidates on application requirements and study-related information;
- Collect information on candidates’ study progress and, when relevant, childcare or family-care difficulties;
- Prepare summaries of applications and supporting documents for the Project Manager;
- Organize and maintain electronic and hard-copy scholarship files;
- Provide other administrative support requested by the Project Manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office software: word, excel, PPT…
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; Email
- Good organizational and document management skills;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Good attention to detail and ability to check information accurately;
- Able to communicate in Lao and English;
- Responsible, proactive, and willing to learn;
- Able to maintain confidentiality of candidate information.
Requirements:
- Highly motivated, proactive and autonomous;
- Willing to sometime travel to university or government office;
- Own motorbike with driving license;
- Able to communicate well with scholarship candidates.
Salary and benefits:
- 4 months internship contract with GRET (monthly remuneration);
