Clear Solutions, a mission-driven NGO focused on reducing child mortality from diarrhoea, is seeking a Research and Impact Evaluation Lead to oversee the design, implementation, and analysis of its programmatic data.

By improving the use of Oral Rehydration Solution and Zinc (ORSZ), Clear Solutions aims to prevent over 90% of diarrhoeal deaths in children under five a goal that relies on rigorous data analysis and actionable insights.

Clear Solutions is a small but high-impact organization operating across Europe and Nigeria. In its first two years, it reached approximately 95,000 children and aims to scale to over one million children by 2027.

The organization works with NGOs, government partners, and frontline health workers to distribute free ORSZ and provide guidance to caregivers, strengthening community health systems and improving survival outcomes.

Role Overview

The Research & Impact Evaluation Lead will ensure Clear Solutions’ programs are evidence-based and highly effective. The role combines epidemiological rigor, statistical analysis, and real-world implementation, making it critical to maximizing the impact of diarrhoeal treatment interventions.

The position reports directly to the leadership team and provides actionable insights that inform program strategy, operational planning, and impact forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Evaluations & Research

  • Lead the research process from defining questions, selecting methods, configuring data collection tools, and implementing field surveys.
  • Conduct robust statistical analyses, including multi-stage cluster sampling, power calculations, regression models, and Difference-in-Differences analysis.
  • Translate findings into practical recommendations that optimize program delivery and child survival outcomes.

Data Quality & Operations Monitoring

  • Develop tools to monitor data collection quality, including automated checks for GPS errors or spurious data patterns.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues to maintain high standards across data collection partners.

Quantitative Analysis & Data Management

  • Clean, manage, and analyze primary data using R or Python.
    • Apply advanced epidemiological and biostatistical methods to generate causal insights from field data.

    Strategic Integration

    • Ensure monitoring and evaluation (M&E) data directly inform program strategy and cost-effectiveness models.
    • Collaborate with partners to enhance existing M&E systems without creating operational burdens.

    Technical Translation & Reporting

    • Author clear internal and external reports that communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Support decision-making through evidence-based recommendations for program scaling and improvement.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Economics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field (Master’s/MPH/MSc preferred).
    • 2+ years of professional or academic experience in M&E, quantitative research, or impact evaluation, ideally in public health or international development.
    • Proficiency in R or Python for data cleaning, analysis, and statistical modeling.
    • Solid understanding of quantitative research methodologies, including household-level sampling strategies, power calculations, and causal inference models
      • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

      Bonus Skills:

      • Experience with SurveyCTO, Kobo Toolbox, or ODK
      • GIS experience using QGIS or ArcGIS
      • Prior experience in global health or social impact contexts

      Work Conditions

      • Contract Type: Contractor, 18 months initial term (possible extension).
      • Location: Remote, within a 3-hour time difference from the UK; occasional travel to the UK (1-4 times/year).
      • Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and location.
