Position Overview

The Sustainable Landscapes – Senior Associate will support the implementation of GGGI’s Financing for Forests (F4F) Programme in Lao PDR.

This role focuses on aligning forest finance interventions with national policies (forestry, agriculture, biodiversity), strengthening stakeholder engagement, and supporting sustainable, scalable solutions for forest-dependent communities and MSMEs.


Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Support

  • Analyze national and sub-national policies related to forestry, agriculture, and land use
  • Provide recommendations to improve forest finance interventions
  • Review data on forestry/agroforestry systems and MSME value chains
  • Develop technical reports, policy briefs, and presentations

2. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with government agencies, financial institutions, NGOs/CSOs, and private sector
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultations and collaboration
  • Support Programme Steering Committees (PSC/CSC)

3. Programme Delivery

  • Support implementation of F4F programme activities
  • Assist in monitoring & evaluation (M&E) and reporting
  • Ensure alignment with targets, budgets, and quality standards
  • Support management of consultants and technical experts

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree (preferred) in:
    • Forestry / Agriculture
    • Natural Resource Management
    • Environmental Science
    • Public Policy or related fields

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience
  • Experience working with government ministries and stakeholders
  • Proven track record in:
    • Policy analysis
    • Technical reporting
    • Project implementation

Languages

  • Fluency in Lao (written & spoken)
  • Advanced English proficiency

Core Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of forestry, agroforestry, and land-use systems
  • Understanding of MSME value chains and sustainable finance
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and multicultural teams
