Our goal is to achieve food security for all and make sure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. With over 194 member states, FAO works in over 130 countries worldwide. We believe that everyone can play a part in ending hunger. FAO assists Member Countries to improve diets and raise levels of nutrition, as well as support with appropriate policies, strategies and methodologies for improving the efficiency and inclusiveness of their food and agricultural systems. As a knowledge leader, areas addressed include dietary assessment, support to nutrition-sensitive food and agriculture policies and programmes, effective nutrition promotion programmes, food value chains, market linkages, post-harvest handling and agro-processing. FAO is committed to support Member States in their efforts to improve nutritional outcomes as stated in the Rome Declaration on Nutrition (November 2014) and to mainstream nutrition into FAO’s strategic objectives.

Context

The WFF’s Global Youth Action Initiative (Youth Initiative), hosted within the Office of Youth and Women (OYW) of FAO is a dynamic platform empowering youth to transform agrifood systems for a better food future. Through its thematic programmes—Youth Culture and Local Youth Action—it provides youth with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to design and scale sustainable solutions. One of these projects is the WFF Youth Film Festival. Through the Film Impact Screenings initiative, it leverages storytelling to engage youth and stakeholders on key agrifood system challenges. These screenings combine selected films with facilitated discussions to promote reflection, dialogue, and action at local and global levels. In the context of the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF) 2026, the initiative focuses on amplifying the voices of women farmers and young women, raising awareness of their challenges, and showcasing solutions led by youth and communities. The WFF Youth Initiative established the WFF Youth Film Festival to highlight the power of visual storytelling to address complex agrifood challenges and inspire global action. Building on this platform, the Film Impact Screenings initiative aims to extend the reach and impact of selected films to less reached communities. The Film Impact Screenings are designed as curated, community-based or institutional events that combine film screenings with facilitated discussions, dialogues, and knowledge exchange. These screenings create safe and inclusive spaces for youth, stakeholders, and communities to: • Reflect on key issues related to agrifood systems, gender equality, and youth empowerment • Engage in dialogue around the themes highlighted in the films • Connect global narratives with local realities • Inspire collective action and community-driven solutions In the lead-up to and throughout the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026, Film Impact Screenings will place a particular emphasis on: • Amplifying the voices and stories of women farmers and young women • Raising awareness of the challenges they face and the barriers to their empowerment • Showcasing successful initiatives, innovations, and grassroots solutions led by women and youth • Supporting advocacy and engagement efforts aligned with the Youth Recommendations on Empowering Young Women in Agrifood Systems

Task type

Written translation

Task description

The Online Volunteers will contribute to the translation of subtitles for the Film Impact Screenings, helping to expand outreach to WFF National Youth Chapters, partners, and broader audiences, while supporting engagement and amplifying the initiative’s impact. As most of the films are currently available only in English, there is a need to increase accessibility for a wider range of audiences. In particular, to strengthen outreach across Asia and the Pacific, volunteers will support the translation and localization of subtitles and related materials into relevant regional languages, ensuring greater inclusivity and participation. Through the translation of films and accompanying toolkits, Online Volunteers will help make WFF content accessible to youth, community organizations, educational institutions, and partners across Asia and the Pacific, supporting broader engagement in discussions on agrifood systems, gender equality, and the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026. The assignment seeks 3 Online Volunteers with proficiency in Laotian. Online Volunteers will work in language teams to translate and review subtitle files for selected films and supporting toolkit materials. There are 13 films pre-selected, 2 Online Volunteers will support film translation while 1 Online Volunteer will support in translating the Impact Screening Toolkit (16 pages). Online Volunteers will support with: • Translate subtitle files from English into Laotian • Review translations for accuracy, readability, and cultural relevance. • Adapt terminology and expressions where appropriate while preserving the original meaning and intent. • Support quality assurance through peer review and feedback exchanges with fellow volunteers. • Contribute to the translation of Film Impact Screening toolkits and guidance materials, where relevant. If you have a preference for translating the films or the impact toolkit for your language, please kindly indicate in your motivational statement alongside how your experience may be suitable. If you are an active member of an FAO national Youth chapter, please indicate this in your motivation statement.

[94,34,31
71
["post-20113","job","type-job","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","job_type-ingo-cso","job_type-part-time","job_type-work-from-home","location-remote
],"a3_pvc":
["GET
