Instead, proposals should demonstrate how targeted investments can generate wider institutional change, mobilise additional partners and financing, and create evidence or models that can be replicated across countries or regions.<\/p>\n<h2>What Is Ecosystem-based Adaptation?<\/h2>\n<p>Ecosystem-based Adaptation uses ecosystems and nature-based approaches to help vulnerable communities and ecosystems adapt to climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Previous Global EbA Fund activities have covered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coastal and marine areas<\/li>\n<li>Drylands<\/li>\n<li>Grasslands<\/li>\n<li>Forests<\/li>\n<li>Mountains<\/li>\n<li>Urban areas<\/li>\n<li>River basins<\/li>\n<li>Wetlands<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Strategic Objectives<\/h2>\n<p>The Fund focuses on three strategic objectives:<\/p>\n<h3>1. Build Awareness &amp; Strengthen Capacity<\/h3>\n<p>Support awareness, knowledge development, and institutional capacity needed to mainstream EbA.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Improve Governance &amp; Planning<\/h3>\n<p>Address gaps in policy, planning, and regulatory environments.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Increase Access to Sustainable Finance<\/h3>\n<p>Expand access to sustainable short- and long-term financing mechanisms for applying and scaling EbA.<\/p>\n<h2>Three Action Pillars<\/h2>\n<p>Projects should contribute to one or more of the Fund&#8217;s action pillars:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Levers for Catalytic Change<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Policy and policy instruments<\/li>\n<li>Education and capacity building<\/li>\n<li>Financing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Functional Data and Science<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Climate risk and vulnerability assessments<\/li>\n<li>Future scenario modelling<\/li>\n<li>Traditional knowledge and technologies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Innovation and Adaptation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unconventional approaches<\/li>\n<li>Integration of EbA into relevant sectors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Priority Thematic Areas<\/h2>\n<p>Applicants may focus on one of three thematic areas. Alignment with these themes is <strong>welcomed but not mandatory<\/strong>, provided the proposal aligns with the overall Fund objectives and action pillars.<\/p>\n<h3>1. Innovative Finance Solutions for EbA<\/h3>\n<p>Projects may:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop climate-finance value chains<\/li>\n<li>Create bankable pathways for EbA approaches<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate the economic value of EbA<\/li>\n<li>Develop sustainable livelihood and income-generation models<\/li>\n<li>Attract private capital and blended finance<\/li>\n<li>Build investment-ready project pipelines<\/li>\n<li>Improve access to global climate funds and multilateral development banks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2. EbA for Human Development &amp; Security<\/h3>\n<p>This theme links:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Climate adaptation<\/li>\n<li>Humanitarian action<\/li>\n<li>Development<\/li>\n<li>Governance<\/li>\n<li>Peacebuilding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Projects should address policy, regulatory, financial, and awareness barriers to EbA investment, particularly in high-risk or fragile contexts.<\/p>\n<h3>3. People\u2013Nature\u2013Climate\u2013Land Synergies<\/h3>\n<p>Projects should strengthen connections between:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Climate adaptation<\/li>\n<li>Biodiversity conservation<\/li>\n<li>Land degradation neutrality<\/li>\n<li>Disaster risk reduction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Examples include joint planning, cross-ministerial coordination, integrated decision-support tools, economic valuation of ecosystem services, and investment-readiness approaches.<\/p>\n<h2>Who Can Apply?<\/h2>\n<p>The Global EbA Fund encourages <strong>new and non-traditional partnerships<\/strong> and applicants beyond traditional conservation organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible recipient categories include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>International NGOs (INGOs)<\/li>\n<li>NGOs<\/li>\n<li>Community-based organizations (CBOs)<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous Peoples&#8217;
