Application Period: 11 August – 15 November 2026
The Kunming Biodiversity Fund (KBF) is inviting eligible UN organizations, together with relevant partners, to submit project proposals supporting the conservation, protection, and restoration of biodiversity.
Priority Areas
Projects should contribute to at least one of the following areas:
- Ecosystem restoration and protection — improving biodiversity and ecosystem services
- Biodiversity mainstreaming — integrating biodiversity into policies, regulations, plans and strategies
- Resource mobilization — strengthening financing for biodiversity conservation
- Genetic resources — sharing benefits from genetic resources and digital sequence information
Projects addressing multiple thematic areas are encouraged.
Funding & Duration
- Single-country projects: Up to US$500,000
- Multi-country regional projects: Up to US$800,000
- Project duration: 12–24 months
- Projects should support implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF) and relevant National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs).

The 2026 call will be conducted in two stages:
Stage 1: 15 September 2026
Stage 2: 15 November 2026
