Job Summary
UNICEF in Vientiane, Lao PDR is looking for a National Consultant to support the training of Lao Youth Union (LYU) hotline staff. The duration of this assignment is 6 months, starting as soon as possible, and the consultant shall be home-based.
Key Functions and Accountabilities
Under the supervision of the Child Protection Specialist, and in close collaboration with the Child Protection Officer, the consultant will:
- Develop a training package (PowerPoint presentation and facilitator’s guide) on the Child Protection LYU Hotline, based on a review of available materials (LYU Hotline guidelines/SOPs, Social and Behavioral Change Manual, Life Skills Manual, international good practices).
- Conduct training in Vientiane for the Lao Youth Union (LYU), based on the training package developed.
- Develop training materials, including short videos (in collaboration with a video production company) and a one-pager FAQ to support LYU hotline staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Advanced University Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Development Studies, International Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in child protection, policy development, or programme planning.
- Experience in counselling/advising youth, particularly in areas related to child protection and hotline services.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting training programs, including development of training materials.
- Familiarity with child protection systems and referral mechanisms in Lao PDR is an asset.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage youth audiences.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills in Lao and English.
