Humanity and Inclusion (HI) is seeking a qualified and motivated person to work as a Communication Officer.

Job Details

  • Position: Communication Officer
  • Position Type: Full Time
  • Type of Contract: 10 months with possible extension
  • Base Location: Vientiane Capital (with occasional travel)
  • Salary: LAK 17,200,000 – LAK 18,900,000 based on experiences + benefits (13th month, Health Insurance, NSSF, Mobile Allowance, Annual Leave, etc.)

Job Summary

The communication officer will be in charge of all types of communications and act as the focal person in organizing events (internal workshop, IDPD, Mine Action Day, etc.). To produce content (texts, photos, videos, etc.) in line with our audience strategy designed to promote HI’s actions and values and distribute this content to our target audiences by adapting it to the relevant communication channels.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update HI’s IEC materials such as project sheets, videos, case story, articles, FB posts, etc.
  • Responsible for the administration and management of HI Laos Facebook page.
  • Be a focal person for any HI Laos events (National/International Day of People with Disabilities, Policy Dialogue, Mine Action Day, etc.).
  • Ensure all communication and IEC material are checked, edited and proofread before printing, publishing and disseminating.
  • Prepare all relevant requests, professional advance, Purchase and Service Requests (PSRs) for the activities related to communication and publication.
  • Liaise and closely follow-up with the Logistic Unit with PSRs related to materials/ equipment and services linked to workshops and events.
  • Provide support to operation team in preparing ToR/TER/PSR, activities report where needed.
  • Be involved in the development of communication synergies with the HI team in Laos and HI Mekong Program.
  • Work in harmony with HI team members to achieve project outcomes.
  • With support of the operation manager and other project managers, to communicate and facilitate the visit of representatives from the head quarter, journalists and donors.
  • Any other duties and tasks as assigned in line with HI Lao PDR mission objectives, outcomes, implementation and strategy.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in communication with an International Non-Government Organization (INGO).
  • Solid knowledge in graphic design, writing article, case study, VDO documentary development.
  • Working as part of a team/network, cooperating and harmonization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathy; showing interest in what each person is experiencing and feeling, putting oneself in the other person’s shoes, listening to his/her needs, being accepting rather than judgmental.
  • Resilience to stress and uncertainty.
  • Advance in English, both written and spoken.
  • Understanding the development work, Mine Action and Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) are required.
