Swisscontact has been active in Lao PDR since 2013, with projects in vocational education and training, sustainable tourism, waste management, and promoting sustainable consumption and production to create economic opportunities that address climate change and foster environmental sustainability.
We are looking for a reliable and well-experienced Driver for the Sustainable Consumption and Production in Lao PDR (SCP Lao) Project. The project is co-funded by the European Union and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and is implemented by Swisscontact and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Overall Tasks
The Driver will be responsible for providing safe transportation services for Swisscontact staff and other persons related to the SCP Lao project, and for ensuring the proper maintenance and effective operation of the project’s EV car. The Driver reports to the Administration Officer.
Responsibilities

Safely transport passengers and ensure proper use of the vehicle in line with Swisscontact’s policies and local security plan.

Maintain a valid driver’s license at all times.

Coordinate with management for vehicle maintenance to minimize service interruptions.

Report technical failures or damages immediately and record them in the vehicle logbook.

Ensure the vehicle is parked securely with appropriate locking devices.

Check that the vehicle is equipped with a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, tools, and spare parts.

Manage fuel usage and submit receipts.

Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and well maintained.

Assist with transport and storage of project materials.
-
Ensure vehicles are used only for authorized purposes.

Maintain accurate trip sheets, condition reports, and maintenance records.

Provide safety briefings to passengers and ensure seatbelts are fastened.

Support administrative and logistics tasks, including fieldwork and occasional international trips (e.g., Thailand).
Requirements
Core Competencies:

Lao citizen or full rights to work in Lao PDR.

Responsible, accurate, self-reliant, and eager to learn.

Ability to work independently and in a team.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Awareness and sensitivity to gender, diversity, and inclusion.

Adaptability and flexibility.
-
English communication skills (an asset).
Technical Competencies:

Vocational school diploma or equivalent education/training.
-
Valid driving license with knowledge of light vehicle maintenance.

Good knowledge of traffic rules and safe driving record.

Strong driving skills, including driving to provinces.
-
Willingness to travel extensively, including weekends.
-
Ability to maintain accurate logbooks.

Experience with EV cars (an asset).
-
Experience working with INGOs or donor agencies (preferred).
