Project Overview
The Climate Smart Education System Initiative (CSESI) is funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). Save the Children, in partnership with UNESCO, serves as the global grant agent to provide technical assistance. The project aims to build national capacities to integrate climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability into education sector plans, strategies, and budgets, as well as to enhance cross-sector coordination on climate and environmental policies and programs within the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES).
Lao PDR is one of the priority countries for this initiative. The national workplan was developed through consultations in December 2024 and endorsed by MoES. The workplan focuses on the following seven components:

Role Purpose
The Project Coordinator will support the implementation of the GPE-CSESI project by coordinating with the Permanent Secretariat Office (PSO) of MoES. The role focuses on four specific components:

Safer and greener infrastructure

School safety and educational continuity
The role involves planning, coordination, logistics, data collection, and administrative support to ensure the effective delivery of project activities.
Key Responsibilities
-
Coordinate and arrange logistics in collaboration with the PSO for the implementation of the GPE-CSESI project.

Support the PSO in organizing meetings and workshops, including sending invitations, preparing handouts, confirming participants, and managing logistics.

Develop and update detailed action plans based on the project workplan and budget.

Work with the Save the Children supply team and PSO to update the procurement plan, arrange meeting rooms, and manage translations and print materials.

Assist the PSO in preparing and reviewing budget proposals and expenditure reports in coordination with the finance team.

Coordinate with the MEAL Manager to update project indicators quarterly in the Project Report, Information Management and Evidence (PRIME) system.

Provide data and input for progress reports, ensuring quality and accuracy, and maintain complete records for reporting.

Arrange logistics for international experts traveling to Laos in coordination with administrative staff.

Coordinate with UNESCO in-country staff for effective program implementation.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Child Safeguarding Responsibilities

Ensure understanding and compliance with the Child Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct, and local procedures.

Promote child safeguarding in all management processes including recruitment, training, performance management, planning, and monitoring.

Report any suspicion or incident of child abuse or policy violation.
Qualifications and Experience
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education, climate change, environment, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project implementation and coordination in the education sector or related areas.

Strong understanding of climate change, environment, disaster risk reduction, and related issues.
-
Experience in developing and managing project workplans, budgets, and progress monitoring.

Familiarity with government structures, systems, and development partners.
-
Flexibility and the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
-
Good command of English (spoken and written) is an asset.
