Land and Forest Governance Intern, LMDP

The project “Land Management & Decentralized Planning Program (LMDP IV)” as part of the Lao-German Cooperation and commissioned by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development is currently seeking one (1) Laotian Intern in Vientiane Capital for a duration of 6 months from 01.09.2025 – 28.02.2026.
MAIN TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide general support for sector coordination and implementation of activities with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (Department of Forestry, and Department of Land Management and Development)
- Assist in organizing and conducting events, workshops, and trainings, including writing meeting minutes, and providing interpretation between Lao and English
- Support the preparation and closure of Financing Agreements in close coordination with government partners
- Review and analyze legal frameworks and policies related to land tenure and forest rights
- Support field visits to assess land allocation and land use planning, forest management and protection, and land registration
- Assist in developing and delivering training materials and workshops on land tenure and forest governance
- Contribute to integrated land and forest planning approaches
- Support the use of satellite imagery and GIS tools
- Summarize lessons learned and develop communication materials
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Student or recent graduate in forestry, land management, natural resources, environmental law, or related fields
- Strong interest and basic understanding of land tenure and forest governance concepts
- Very good skills in Microsoft 365 applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as business communication tools
- Familiarity with geospatial tools (GIS, remote sensing) is an advantage
- Good written and oral skills and communication in English
- Ability to work in a multicultural and multi-stakeholder environment
- Willingness to work in an international team to implement activities with the public and private sector in Lao PDR
