Notice of Recruitment – Lao National Staff 

The Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is a Norwegian humanitarian organization supporting capacity building and  development in many countries and has been engaged in UXO clearance in Laos since 1997. The strategic goal of the  programme is to reduce the humanitarian and socio-economic threat posed by unexploded ordnance (UXO). NPA Lao  PDR is regulated by the National Regulatory Authority (NRA) for the UXO Sector. The programme currently has more  than 800 staff and receives funding from the United States Department of State (USDoS), and the Norwegian Ministry  of Foreign Affairs (NMFA). The NPA Lao PDR program is now seeking a qualified, enthusiastic, experienced, and well motivated person for the following position: 

  1. Junior Logistic Officer (Detector Technician), 1 Position, based in Pakse 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Repair and maintain detectors. 
  • Perform preventive servicing and testing. 
  • Keep the workshop safe and organized. 
  • Manage spare parts and repair records. 
  • Provide basic technical support to field staff. 
  • Ensure detectors meet NPA quality standards. 
  • Report on repair work and equipment status. 
  • Support other workshop duties as required. 

Qualifications Required: 

  • Technical diploma or certificate in electronics, mechanics, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Previous experience with repair/maintenance of electronic equipment preferred. 
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, soldering, and troubleshooting. 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills. 
  • Basic English communication (written and spoken) is an advantage. 
  • Commitment to NPA’s values, safety standards, and humanitarian mandate. 

Desirable: 

  • Driving license (class AB is a minimum required)

  • Careful, accurate, and detail-oriented. 
  • Well-organized and able to manage tasks efficiently. 
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
