The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has been working in Lao PDR since the 1980s and formally established a country program in 2005. WCS Laos collaborates closely with the Government of Laos, civil society, and local communities to protect biodiversity and promote sustainable natural resource management. The program focuses on key conservation landscapes such as Nam Et-Phou Louey National Park, Xe Sap National Protected Area, and Bolikhamxay Province, supporting efforts to combat illegal wildlife trade, conserve endangered species, and promote community-based conservation approaches. With a mission to save wildlife and wild places, WCS Laos combines science, field-based conservation, policy advocacy, and capacity building to ensure long-term environmental sustainability in the country.
